Man to serve five years for breaking into ex-girlfriend’s home

LOCKPORT – Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon said Monday she will sentence a Niagara Falls man to five years in prison and five years of post-release supervision for entering his ex-girlfriend’s home Sept. 29 in violation of an order of protection.

Vincent J. Lewis, 31, of South Avenue, received the sentencing commitment, which will be made official June 11, after his guilty plea Monday to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree burglary.

Lewis was charged with entering the home of the woman, who has two children by him, Sept. 29 and choking her. He also was accused of entering the home again Oct. 23.

Lewis is a second-time felon, having been sentenced in 2002 to five years in prison for firing eight gunshots into a house where his then-girlfriend, not the same one as in the most recent incidents, was baby-sitting.
