Man makes off with meat

TOWN OF NIAGARA – A Niagara Falls man was accused of taking more than $100 worth of meat from Wegman’s supermarket just before 4 p.m. Sunday at 1577 Military Road.

William D. Payne, 70, of Welch Avenue, was charged with petit larceny by Niagara County sheriff’s deputies.

A security guard said he saw Payne try to conceal $25.74 worth of chuck roast and $95.73 worth in his coat and leave the store without paying.

He was scheduled to appear Monday in Town of Niagara Court.
