It was refreshing to read writer’s insight on aging
I am writing to express my appreciation for the column “Age is just a number to be ignored” by Amy Rumizen in the Women’s Voices section of the March 21 paper.
Her fresh and thoughtful insights on women who find themselves out of a standard life track for people their age invigorated me. I especially enjoyed her comments on the difference between “should” and “could.” She noted that “should” is “synonymous with conformity and fulfilling other people’s expectations,” while “could” opened up “the universe of possibility.”
My circumstances are quite different than those of Rumizen, but I share with her an unusual life journey. For me, her reminder that people can explore possibilities and forge friendships across distinctions of experience and age is most encouraging.
