A community meeting on a mural proposed for Masten Park to commemorate a woman murdered there last year will be held at 6 p.m. April 20 in City Honors High School, 186 E. North St.
The “Ray of Light” mural project is led by Buffalo Arts Studio, which was contacted by the family of Jerald “Dee Dee” Goldsmith to turn their grief into an action to promote peace and to improve the park entrance.
Goldsmith, 52, the mother of seven and a housekeeper at the University at Buffalo, was found near a flight of concrete stairs leading into the park at Masten Avenue and Best Street on Oct. 1. A reward has been offered for the arrest of her killer.
Noted local muralist Augustina Droze has been selected to create the mural. Designs will be previewed at the meeting and additional improvements to the site will be discussed.
