Hamburg’s Herrmann on fire
Returning All-Western New York attack Claire Herrmann scored nine goals and assisted on two others in Hamburg’s 14-6 Class B league girls lacrosse victory Monday over Williamsville East.
“I don’t know if its a school record or not, but since I’ve been coaching here nobody’s had more,” said Bulldogs coach Katy Ryan.
Hamburg, seeking its fourth straight Section VI Class B title is off to a 3-0 start.
“We’ve been fortunate to get three of our four games in so far,” Ryan said.
Herrmann, a junior, already has committed to playing at LeMoyne College. She scored 45 goals and had 25 assists for Hamburg last season.
“Her strength is her quickness,” Ryan said. “She is very deceptive when she has the ball.’
Senior Carolyn Connors, who has signed at Canisius, had two goals and an assist and also won nine draws for Hamburg. Rebecca Izzo had a pair of goals in the victory.
Elsewhere, Sydney Cerza of Clarence (1-0) had seven goals and three assists in a 21-7 Class A win at Niagara Falls.
