100-tap Griffon Gastropub sets opening menu

Can you have too much craft beer?

The 100-tap lineup at Griffon Gastropub’s new Clarence location (5445 Transit Road) will be a fitting backdrop for that argument, starting at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Owner Ken Scibetta said he thinks it’s the second-longest craft beer tap list in the New York State. “We cannot wait to unveil the list, as my business partner Ed Webster, who handles beer and liquor, is a complete beer geek and is like a kid in a candy store when choosing craft beers.”

“At first we will only be open for dinner as we don't have enough staff for lunch at this time,” said Scibetta.

Food will extend the drive for innovative tavern food unveiled at the first Griffon Gastropub in Niagara Falls, which opened at 2470 Military Road in 2013 [read a dining review of the original Griffon Gastropub]. A huge menu includes a chicken and waffle sandwich, duck wings, Turkish lamb meatballs and a spicy vegan black bean burger.

Bar snacks will include popcorn cooked in bacon fat, tossed with smoked and roasted garlic and bacon chunks, and fresh-fried chicharrones, pork rinds, tossed with brown sugar and mesquite seasoning.
