The Niagara Frontier Chapter New York State Women, Inc. will award scholarships to adult women seeking to return to college.
Since 1953, the group formerly known as the Tonawandas Business and Professional Women, has awarded 132 scholarships to women in need.
The application deadline is April 10 and all materials must be postmarked on or before this date. Applications are available in public libraries in the cities of Tonawanda and North Tonawanda, financial aid offices or on the chapter website, niagarafrontierNYSW.org. Scholarships will be awarded on June 23.
The scholarships are not for high school seniors, but adult women who have resided in Erie or Niagara County for at least ten years.
The award requires demonstrated need, proof of acceptance to an accredited school, a transcript of school records, and two letters of reference. A personal interview with the scholarship committee will be held during the first two weeks of May.
The scholarship is for students with financial need. Funds are designated for tuition and scholarship checks will distributed directly to the school.
