NIMAC wins $10,000 in casino funds from county

LOCKPORT – The Niagara Military Affairs Council, the not-for-profit group that lobbies on behalf of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station, has been awarded $10,000 from Niagara County’s allotment of Seneca Niagara Casino funds.

The payment was one of three approved by the County Legislature at its March 17 meeting.

The Legislature approved $2,000 in casino funds for an annual home show sponsored by the Niagara County Builders Association, and for the North Tonawanda History Museum’s exterior restoration project.

Five other requests for casino cash are to be considered by the Legislature in April.

They include $2,000 for the North Tonawanda Football Hall of Fame; $2,500 for family and children’s programming at Artpark; $1,500 each for the Lewiston Peach Festival and the Lewiston Jazz Festival; and $2,000 for the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce’s efforts to market the Lewiston-Porter area.

All the casino funding requests must be approved by the Legislature’s Economic Development Committee before reaching the agenda for the Legislature’s April 21 meeting.
