Mother injured when son, 12, backs vehicle into South Buffalo house

The mother of a 12-year-old boy who backed the family vehicle out of a driveway in South Buffalo suffered minor injuries after apparently being struck by an open door on the vehicle Sunday night.

The mother on Monday remained at Mercy Hospital for observation, police said. The incident happened just after 8 p.m. in the 100 block of Como Street, according to Buffalo police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge.

After the vehicle hit the mother, it continued in reverse and crashed into the porch of a house across the street, causing limited damage, DeGeorge said. The boy was taken to Women & Children’s Hospital where he was treated and later released.

No charges are expected at this time.
