POMFRET — A Fredonia man was charged with felony driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop early Saturday, according to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
Shortly after 2 a.m., deputies say they spotted a vehicle that failed to stop at the stop sign at Eagle Road and Route 60, later crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and finally drove through a second stop sign at Webster Road and Porter Avenue.
Deputies stopped Dennis G. Clemens Jr., 50, and determined he was under the influence of alcohol and drugs, though further details weren’t provided.
Clemens was convicted of DWI in the previous 10 years, making the current DWI charge a felony. He also was ticketed for driving while ability impaired by alcohol and drugs, two counts of failing to stop at stop signs and failure to keep right.
Clemens must appear in Pomfret Town Court at a later date.
