Suspect found asleep in bed at Niagara Falls burglary

NIAGARA FALLS – Police arrested a burglary suspect after they found him sleeping in the bed of a LaSalle Avenue home late Friday.

Khalif Swanson, 32, of Zito Drive, was charged with second-degree burglary, petit larceny, fourth-degree criminal mischief and fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. Police said Swanson caused about $200 in damage.

The homeowner contacted authorities about 11 p.m., after finding the suspect asleep in her bed, said police, who added that Swanson had broken a door and also put on a pair of the victim’s sneakers.

Police said they made Swanson remove the sneakers but he then put on a pair of sneakers belonging to the victim’s boyfriend – leaving his own behind in a shoebox.
