Lowdown: A second-team All-Pac 12 selection and Davey O’Brien Award (nation’s top quarterback) semifinalist, Hundley leaves UCLA as the Bruins’ all-time leader with 75 passing touchdowns and 11,677 total yards. He’s also the first quarterback in program history to win nine or more games in three straight seasons. … A dual-threat quarterback, Hundley took only nine snaps from under center in 2014. Nearly 30 percent of his passing attempts last season were behind the line of scrimmage. … Pocket awareness is below average. Doesn’t anticipate pressure (took 125 sacks in three years) or read defenses well. Completed just 32.6 percent of passes while scrambling.
They said it: “He showed better accuracy than expected and once he zeroed in on his target I thought he showed good toughness staring down the pass rush from inside the pocket. But he was not asked to make a lot of anticipatory throws and there are still major concerns when it comes to his pocket awareness.” – ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay.
