Western New York still has four teams competing this winter season, all in basketball, and today one will go for one of the most prestigious titles a high school team can win in this state.
As usual, we'll be following the high school playoff action via our team, the home office via @bufnewspreptalk on Twitter, and through your #PrepTalkLive tweets.
The New York State Federation Tournament of Champions in boys and girls basketball continue today.
Canisius, coming off a stirring victory over Scotia on Friday morning (story | photos | video) will take on New York State Association of Independent Schools champion Albany Academy in the Class A title game at 5 p.m. at the University at Albany.
There are two semifinals with local teams leading up to that big event: The Mount St. Mary girls (NYSCHSAA champion) play in a Class B semifinal at 11 a.m. while the Park boys (NYSCHSAA champion) play in a Class B semifinal at 1 p.m.
Williamsville South girls (NYSPHSAA champion), who had a semifinal bye, will play in the Class A championship at noon Sunday.
News Sports Reporter Miguel Rodriguez will be there for the coverage.
Our high school scoreboard page has today's entire lineup, and it will have the final scores and details as soon as they are reported to us.
