RAMSDELL, Evelyn Joyce

RAMSDELL - Evelyn Joyce Passed away on March 9, 2015 in Austin, TX. Joyce is the daughter of the late Evelyn Yerkes Ramsdell and Robert Adam Ramsdell, and the granddaughter of William M. and Margaret Ramsdell of Buffalo, NY. William Ramsdell was Editor of the Buffalo Courier Express, and Margaret was the adopted daughter of Robert B. Adam. Joyce grew up in Wilmington, DE, where she attended The Tatnall School and The Forman School in Litchfield, CT. She graduated from Stratford Junior College in Stratford, VA and, years later, from Houghton College. Joyce came to Buffalo over 50 years ago and worked at Adam, Meldrum and Anderson for many years. She also spent many years working the kettles at Christmas for the Salvation Army, where she was held in great esteem. Joyce lived at Symphony North Apartments, before moving to Mary Agnes Manor in 1999. She frequented Chautauqua Institution every summer for many years and sang in the choir there. She was a great supporter of Chautauqua, as well as the Albright-Knox Gallery in Buffalo, where she spent many hours. Joyce is a sister of Gay Daniels of Austin and the late brother Robert A. Ramsdell, Jr., and is also survived by nieces, nephews and their children. The family is very grateful to the staff of Mary Agnes Manor, especially Margaret Baker, for the care and friendship they gave to Joyce while she lived there, to Niagara Lutheran Home for their attention to her and her family, as well as everyone at the Campbell Nursing Home who welcomed her when she moved to Austin in 2011, to be near her sister. Joyce never forgot Buffalo, the Albright-Knox Gallery, the Salvation Army or St. Paul's Episcopal Cathedral.
