Snowmobile trails close April 1 at Allegheny National Forest

Another sign that spring is here is that the Allegheny National Forest will close all snowmobile trails April 1.

The trails are scheduled to reopen for ATVs the Friday before Memorial Day, May 22 , and remain open until the last Sunday in September. The only exception is the Marienville Scenic Loop, which will remain closed until timber harvest operations are complete.

Once the trails reopen, visitors should check online to find out the conditions of the trails, as they can quickly change. Trail information will be posted on the Allegheny’s website: http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/forests/allegheny or by calling either the Bradford or Marienville Ranger Districts.

Riding the ATV trails requires a permit, which can be purchased at any of the Allegheny National Forest offices or from any of our official vendors.

Cost is $10 for a day permit or $35 for an annual permit. Applications can be obtained at any ANF office or by going online: http://go.usa.gov/t3Km.
