BATAVIA – Improper disposal of rags containing a flammable substance was blamed for a two-alarm house fire in Pembroke, the Genesee County Town of Sheriff’s Office reported Friday.
Smoke was reported coming from the roof of an unoccupied home at 285 Maple Road at about 9:45 p.m. Thursday. Numerous fire companies responded to the alarms.
A preliminary investigation revealed the fire was caused by the improper disposal of polyurethane rags, the Sheriff’s Office said.
