Cheektowaga police are investigating the case of a 6-week-old boy who suffered fractures to his skull, neck, ribs and leg.
Police were called to Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo on Sunday, according to Assistant Chief Jim Speyer. In addition to the multiple fractures, the baby also suffered a bruised liver.
“From what we hear, the baby will recover,” Speyer said Friday.
But beyond identifying the extensive injuries, Speyer said he couldn’t comment on the circumstances under which the baby was injured or who was caring for the child at the time.
Speyer said Erie County’s Child Protective Services also is involved in the investigation. The baby will be placed in foster care when he is well enough to be released from the hospital, Speyer said.
