Would you believe lake effect snow is in the forecast for this weekend?
The latest front passing through Western New York on Friday will leave colder temperatures in its wake, along with a few inches of lake effect snow from Lake Ontario, according to Jim Mitchell, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
“The front is going through now – the colder air isn’t here yet,” Mitchell said.
When it arrives later Friday morning, snow is expected to fall across Western New York.
“Nothing heavy,” Mitchell said. “During the day, it’s going to be really tough to accumulate on the grass – like yesterday. The sun is just so strong, it’s tough to get it to stick.”
High temperatures in the lower 30s are forecast for Friday, with nighttime lows in the upper teens. Saturday’s high will be only in the mid-20s.
By Saturday afternoon, snow accumulations will total between 2 and 3 inches, Mitchell said.
