Pendleton man accused of making false injury claims for Workers Compensation

PENDLETON – A Niagara County man was charged with obtaining $45,000 in insurance benefits after making false claims about an injury.

James J. Moreland Jr., 59, of Pendleton was charged Monday by New York State Police with perjury and false statement on an insurance application.

The New York State Workers Compensation Board reported that Moreland falsified alleged injuries to their board and collected over $45,000 from April 2009 to June 2011.

Moreland appeared in City of Lockport Court on Wednesday and his case was adjourned until April 29.
