Isabel M. Strachan of Williamsville, a retired FBI employee, died Saturday at Niagara Lutheran Nursing Home after short illness. She was 87.

Born in Buffalo, she graduated from Nardin Academy in 1945 and formerly worked at Bell Aircraft and Canisius College.

Miss Strachan had a 40-year career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where she held several administrative positions. She later served as an assistant legal attaché with the bureau in many foreign countries, including England, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Santa Domingo and Thailand.

Legal attachés maintain liaison with law enforcement and security services in foreign countries, enabling the FBI to effectively combat international terrorism, organized crime, cybercrime, and general criminal matters. She retired in the 1990s.

After retirement, Miss Strachan volunteered at Hospice Buffalo and several local skilled nursing facilities.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1700 North French Road, Getzville.
