Front page March 26, 1915: Appraisers peg island deal's worth at $325,000

Remember that island deal? It was back on the front page 100 years ago today:

"$325,000 award in appraisers' report on idle Harbor islands"

"With the prospect of getting $325,000 out of the city treasury for those idle and abandoned islands at the foot of Main street when they put out only about $50,000 of their own money into the property, the little clique of politicians, office holders and former office holders may be expected to make one of the hardest fights that the  City hall has ever staged to put this deal through the Common council."
