The Western New York Basketball Officials presented their annual sportsmanship award to McKinley coach Zaire Dorsey and made a special award to two Williamsville North coaches, Chuck Swierski and Rick Buffar, for their efforts in coming to the aid of an official facing a life-threatening situation.
The presentations were made at the officials’ annual banquet last Friday at Ilio DiPaolo’s Restaurant in Blasdell.
Other honors were: 25-year awards to Paul Pascucci and Charlie Thrall; special 60-year award to Ben Constantino; Hall of Fame Award to Ken Harris, and Nostrant-Schlee Award to Steve Pieshalski.
Officers elected were: president, Ben Bluman; vice presidents, Dan Nostrant and Orv Cott; interpreter, Mark Clifford; treasurer, Peter Carbone; secretary, Bob Miske, and sergeant-at-arms, John Bycina. Ken Harris, Dan Nostrant, Mike O’Bryan and George Siefert were elected to the board of directors.
The Western New York Track & Field officials have elected their executive committee: Dick Pauly president; Paul Kosek vice president; Tim Toy secretary; and Maryann Nagy treasurer.
