Tops named independent retailer of year by grocery magazine

Tops Friendly Markets has been named Independent Retailer of the Year by Grocery Headquarters, an industry trade publication.

“We are honored to be thought of in such high regard within the food industry and community,” said Frank Curci, Tops chairman, president and CEO, in a news release. “Our associates, customers and our community partners push us to be great every day.”

The Williamsville-based grocer was lauded for its growth in market share, consumer loyalty, sales growth and local leadership team.

Tops was chosen from among 10 other retailers which were nominated by former winners, manufacturers and distributors. The winner of the award is chosen by a panel of previous winners and industry executives.
