Free storefront space available for two months on Main Street in downtown Buffalo is the pitch to the small-scale retail community by the “Queen City Pop-Up” initiative.
Retailers are invited to submit proposals for two spring months of free retail space in the historic Pierce Building at 653 Main St. The campaign is designed to help reinvigorate downtown shopping.
For the spring edition, the Plaza Group is providing the rent-free space from May 1 to June 30.
Buffalo Urban Development Corporation, Buffalo Place and Working for Downtown are behind the program, which debuted during last year’s holiday season, giving rent-free retail space that Sinatra & Company Realty provided in the historic Market Arcade Building at 617 Main St., to six retailers.
Proposals are due by 4 p.m. March 31 to Brandye M. Merriweather, the BUDC’s downtown development coordinator and manager. Applications can be obtained from the BUDC’s office at 95 Perry St., by phone at 362-8373 or online at buffalourbandevelopment.com, buffaloplace.com, workingfordowntown.com or city-buffalo.com
