A West Side gang member found guilty of taking part in the murder of two innocent bystanders nine years ago was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday.
Jonathan Delgado, a member of the former 10th Street Gang, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Richard J. Arcara for his role in the murder of Brandon McDonald, 16, and Darinell Young, 45, on Pennsylvania Avenue in April of 2006.
A federal court jury found Delgado guilty last September of participating in the murders. By most accounts, he and the other shooters mistook McDonald and Young for rival Seventh Street Gang members.
Delgado’s sentence is the result of an investigation by the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force and a prosecution by Assistant U.S. Attorney Joseph M. Tripi.
