Four cats saved and Arcade family helped by Red Cross after fire

WARSAW – Four family cats were saved when a Village of Arcade home suffered $10,000 damage in a fire Monday night, the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services reported Wednesday.

Ron and Jody Nelligan and their four children are being assisted by the Red Cross and family members as a result of the fire at their home at 68 Liberty Street. The cause of the fire which took five fire companies three hours to quell, remains under investigation by the Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office. Arcade Fire Chief Tom Beirsdorf said crews from his unit and the Yorkshire, Strykersville, Harris Corners and Chaffee Sardinia fire companies worked on the fire that damaged the basement and living area of the home. No injures were reported.
