Former garage owner spared more jail time in drug probe

The former operator of a Cheektowaga automobile garage, was spared more jail time by Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny Wednesday on his conviction of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.

George Krajas, 46, now of Lockport, used to operate a garage at 2307 Broadway that Charles Palmer used to process and distribute cocaine in the early 1990s. Both were arrested in a multi-agency crackdown on a major local drug-trafficking ring in 2011.

Palmer, 52, a reputed drug supplier to a number of Buffalo street gangs a decade ago and who earlier spent eight years in federal prison on drug-trafficking charges, faces sentencing by Skretny in this case on April 22.
