Buffalo woman sentenced to home detention for tax fraud scheme

Destinee McBride, 24, of Buffalo, was sentenced Wednesday to six months of home detention and two years of supervised release by Senior U.S. District Judge Williams M. Skretny for her role in a tax return scheme that cost the U.S. Internal Revenue Service $534,782 in allegedly false returns. McBride was ordered to pay the IRS $59,077 for her part in the scam. With other suspects facing prosecution, McBride was recently convicted in the case of wire fraud.
