A 37-year-old Congress Street man who was pulled over Sunday night for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign on Milton Street at Perry Street ended up being arrested on felony and misdemeanor drug charges and other counts.
Alberto Fernandez was pulled over about the traffic infraction but began refusing requests from officers and was seen throwing away 30 bags of alleged heroin, police said.
After allegedly becoming combative he was wrestled to the ground and handcuffed. After his arrest, officers found another six bags of alleged heroin he was carrying. Fernandez was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third and seventh-degrees, resisting arrest, tampering with physical evidence, obstructing governmental administration,driving without a license, making an improper stop and having improper automobile equipment.
