Somerset marijuana grower placed on five years’ probation

LOCKPORT – Ralph D. Fuller, who grew marijuana on his property on Lake Road in Somerset, is now growing clover, his attorney said Tuesday as Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon placed him on probation for five years.

Fuller, 50, had pleaded guilty last year to attempted second-degree criminal possession of marijuana, in the wake of an Oct. 9, 2013 police raid on his home that netted 14 pounds of the drug.

In September, Sheldon gave Fuller a six-month trial run on probation to show he could obey the rules. “He’s been trying his hardest. He’s not done anything wrong,” defense attorney Michael Seibert said.

Sheldon could have sent Fuller to prison for as long as 18 months.
