Sally Moran, a retired Buffalo Public School teacher, died Friday in St. John’s Hospice after a long illness. She was 69.
Born in Hornell, she moved to Buffalo as a child with her mother. She received her bachelors degree from State University at Buffalo and her masters degree from Buffalo State College.
She also studied Spanish in Madrid and completed certification to teach Spanish.
For 30 years she was an art teacher in city schools until she retired in 2005. One of her former students won first prize in a national art contest conducted by the History Channel in the 1990s.
She was a longtime member of the Buffalo Society of Artists. Several of her works are displayed in the permanent collection at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. She also was a docent at the Burchfield Penney Art Center.
She had works in private collections throughout the country and won many awards.
An avid traveler, Ms. Moran traveled to many countries .
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
