LOCKPORT – A woman who has undergone drug treatment and nearly completed the judicial diversion program was placed on three years’ probation Tuesday by Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III.
Kristen L. Wallace, 33, formerly of Bristol Avenue, Lockport, is still living in a halfway house. Murphy reduced her charge from third-degree burglary to second-degree criminal trespass after her success in diversion. She risked seven years in prison had she failed in the program.
Wallace entered diversion in January 2013, pleading guilty to entering the home of a deceased neighbor Nov. 30, 2012, and stealing crackers and a bottle of laundry detergent. She brought $200 to court Tuesday to pay restitution to the victim’s estate.
