Letter: State should not subsidize phone and cable providers

State should not subsidize phone and cable providers

So New York State is about to subsidize cable and phone providers to the tune of $500 million to expand Internet broadband services.

How about introducing some competition instead? We would have lower prices and higher speeds because competition would force this if companies want your business. I don’t want my tax dollars subsidizing companies that have monopolies and already charge high fees. The state only wants more access for people so it can take in more usage charges and fees.
