Commercials, TV shows make men look like idiots
The “Baby Blues” comic strip of March 17 nailed it: In the “olden days” men were the smart characters on TV shows, whereas now they are portrayed as weak males at the complete mercy of their disrespectful wives and children.
The latest aberration is a commercial where an elementary school age daughter uses a gangster technique to let her father know that they have run out of mandarin oranges.
It is time we stop this nonsense. I don’t want my sons to think they are supposed to become someone like that. I want them to have good role models. Yes, I know that will probably never happen on TV, and that we have to provide those models ourselves, but I want to say: Enough, please!
