Hearing set on Horizon Village expansion project

WHEATFIELD – Horizon Village, a drug rehabilitation facility on Inducon Drive, is planning a 25-bed expansion of its inpatient residential section.

The Wheatfield Planning Board has set a public hearing for 7:05 p.m. April 1 in Town Hall, 2800 Church Road, on a special use permit for the 16,880-square-foot, one-story addition.

Supervisor Robert B. Cliffe said the addition is to serve drug abusers in their late teens and early 20s. “It’s certainly a service that is desperately needed in these times,” he said as Town Engineer Timothy Zuber announced the hearing at Monday’s Town Board meeting.

Zuber also announced that the Planning Board had approved a reuse plan for the former Niagara Ministries building at 2074 Lockport Road. Gaines Electrical Contracting plans to move into the building along with a new plumbing business and a lawyer’s office.
