Niagara Falls man pleads not guilty to attempted robbery

LOCKPORT – A Niagara Falls man, accused of a failed attempt to rob a 7-Eleven store, pleaded not guilty Monday in Niagara County Court.

Joshua G. Dionne, 24, of LaSalle Avenue, was indicted on an attempted first-degree robbery charge in connection with an alleged attempt at a knifepoint holdup Dec. 7 at the 7-Eleven at Pine Avenue and 29th Street in the Falls. Police said he ran away when the female cashier started screaming.

Assistant District Attorney Cheryl L. Nichols said a grand jury is considering another robbery indictment against Dionne. Falls police previously charged him with a Nov. 22 holdup at the same store, in which $20 was taken.
