Jamestown mother arrested after baby found alone in Walmart

LAKEWOOD – A 20-year-old Jamestowm woman was arrested at the WalMart store here Sunday evening for allegedly ignoring her one-year-old child while she shopped for shoes.

Nelly I. Gonzalez was charged with endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly walking away from her child who was found on the floor after apparently climbing out of a stroller, according to Lakewood-Busti police.

Then, Miquel A. Romas Flores, 39, also of Jamestown but not related to Gonzalez or involved in her case, was tasered in the store after he allegedly became combative with the police officers when a woman who had a court order against him complained to the officers. Romas Flores was subdued and charged with criminal contempt. Gonzalez was issued an appearance ticket and her child was returned to her. Romas Flores is being held at the Chautauqua County Jail pending Lakewood Court proceedings on his case.
