RANSOMVILLE – A fruit stand farmer helped Niagara County sheriff’s deputies nab a pair suspected of stealing from his unattended stand on Saturday.

Randall Zahno told deputies on Saturday evening that he has closed circuit video at his fruit stand at 3424 Ransomville Road and saw two women enter and then leave with $100 worth of items. He said when he checked there was only $40 in the money til.

He provided deputies with a description of the vehicle and license and police located suspects, Rose Marie Zehler, 57 and Debra Ann Shaughnessy, 61, both of different addresses on Linwood Avenue in Niagara Falls.

Both were charged with petit larceny.

The woman said nothing had prices, so they put in what they thought. Zehler said she put in $8 and Shaughnessy said she put in twenty–something.
