Front page March 23, 1915: Bloodhounds fail in search for Medina murderer

Among the top local stories of the day:

"Hounds' sniffs fail to unearth Medina slayer"

"Bloodhounds sniffed and bayed across soggy farms and along muddy roads all yesterday afternoon and last evening, but they failed to run to cover the man who shot to death Charles B. Phelps, the rich farmer at West Shelby, late Sunday night and then sent a bullet through the heart of his housekeeper, Margaret Wolcott."

"Buffalo man shot by sentry loses his foot"

"HAMILTON, Bermuda -- George B. Montgomery of Buffalo was shot by a British sentry Saturday afternoon and is in the naval hospital here. His foot has been amputated.

"The shooting occurred while Mr. Montgomery, his wife and two guests, Mrs. Richardson of Milton, Pa., and Mrs. Pennell of Cohasset, Mass., with a negro pilot, were sailing on the sound in the vicinity of an island used as a concentration camp for German prisoners."
