Traffic stop results in arrest

WHEATFIELD – A Niagara Falls man faces drug charges stemming from his arrest Thursday night on Niagara Falls Boulevard.

Sheriff’s deputies said they stopped a car operated by DeMario A. Chandler, 20, of 18th Street, around 7:50 p.m. after noticing that one of his headlights was out. They said that a records check indicated that Chandler’s driver’s license had been suspended for failure to pay child support, and a subsequent search of his vehicle turned up plastic baggies containing suspected cocaine and hydrocodone tablets.

Chandler was charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and no headlights.
