Holding back funds only hurts students
I have been a teacher in the East Aurora School District for 32 years. I have the best job in the world and every day is a new and interesting experience. I love to teach students of all grade levels and am mainly a technology education teacher. I do not teach for the money. I love working with all students and seeing them grow academically and socially.
I believe Gov. Andrew Cuomo is wrong in that he is trying to ruin the New York State education system and schools that are performing well by taking away money and holding back funds that are needed to run a successful school. We have been one of the top two schools in Western New York for years and are now facing a critical crisis because he supports charter schools and thinks he can bully all the school districts in the state and hold back money, which hurts districts, taxpayers, teachers and most important students.
These students are our future and deserve a great education. I am watching our school come apart in pieces and cannot believe that we are in this situation. Students deserve an opportunity to receive a good education and now that chance to excel is being taken away.
