State troopers said they found more than five pounds of marijuana while investigating and arresting two people in Randolph on drug charges.
Troopers went to a Spring Street residence in Randolph Friday afternoon to arrest Juan A. DeJesus and Rachael Maynard on charges of criminal possession of marijuana, as the result of an incident that occurred Feb. 2, when approximately four pounds of marijuana was discovered in their residence.
During the arrest Friday, troopers observed marijuana in plain view, and further investigation led to the discovery of more than a pound of marijuana as well as chemical agents and equipment to manufacture methamphetamine.
DeJesus and Maynard were additionally charged with manufacturing methamphetamine and endangering the welfare of a child.
They were arraigned in Randolph Town Court and committed to Cattaraugus County Jail on $50,000 bail each.
