The New York State Bar Association under the auspices of the Empire State Counsel Program honored the following Phillips Lytle attorneys for pro bono work: Spencer L. Durland, Myriah V. Jaworski, Nickolas Karavolas, Gary F. Kotaska, Colleen E. Lamarre, Ryan A. Lema, Amanda L. Lowe, Daniel R. Maguire, Deena K. Mueller, Kevin J. Mulvehill, Gregory L. Peterson, Patrick A. Sheldon, William J. Simon, Lisa L. Smith, Richard T. Tucker, and Robert F. Zogas. These attorneys are from Phillips Lytle’s Buffalo, Jamestown, Rochester and New York City offices. Established in 2006, the Empire State Council Program gives special recognition to NYSBA members who perform 50 or more hours of pro bono service during the calendar year.


Independent Health president and CEO Dr. Michael W. Cropp was named honorary chair of the Seneca Resorts & Casinos Tour de Cure, presented by Independent Health. The cycling event and fundraiser will be held June 6, beginning at Old Falls Street, in downtown Niagara Falls.


The American Association for Physician Leadership recognized Dr. Richard Vienne as a certified physician executive. Vienne is vice president and chief medical officer at Univera Healthcare.

O’Connell was retained by General Electric to serve as narrator for a recently produced corporate video presentation, outlining how Working Capital Solutions, a business unit of GE, helps the company generate and maintain healthy levels of working capital including accounts payable, inventory and accounts receivable.


Moog Inc., East Aurora, was awarded a $55,229 federal contract for torque tube assemblies from the Defense Logistics Agency, Richmond, Va.


State Farm awarded Junior Achievement of Western New York a $10,500 grant in funding to deliver JA programs to high school students in Western New York. JA will recruit and train business volunteers to enter local classrooms to provide JA’s economic education and workforce preparation programs to about 315 students in 9th through 12th grade during the 2014-2015 school year.
