Jan. 20, 1927 – March 17, 2015

Milford Joseph Dixon of Amherst, a sales vice president, died Tuesday at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital after a lengthy illness. He was 88.

Born and raised in South Buffalo, he graduated from Burgard High School in 1945 and soon afterward served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Dixon won several national sales awards as a salesman at Hubbs and Howe Co., a paper products and cleaning machine business. He rose to vice president of sales for the company, retiring in 1992 after more than 40 years of service.

A member of the Brookfield Golf Club, he was an avid golfer who had scored several hole-in-ones.

Always concerned about family, at the age of 19, he purchased a double house for his parents to generate income for them.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Barbara A. Noonan; three daughters, Laurie Morris, Lynne Quinlivan and Nancy Kelsch; a son, Robert; a brother, Donald; and 13 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary Catholic Church, 6919 Transit Road, Swormville.
