March 20, 1990: 'A sweet comic fantasy,' Jeff Simon says of 'Pretty Woman'

"Pretty Woman," the now-iconic romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere, was in theaters 25 years ago this week. Jeff Simon, then and now a movie critic for The Buffalo News, liked what he saw of the film.

"Roberts & Gere: Oh, mercy!"

"Make way for the Corporate Raider and the Hooker. It's the newest little folk tale of raunchy sex and bewildered power from Touchstone Pictures (for which read parent company Disney Studios. Clearly someone in the corporate hierarchy there is awfully fond of this particular folk yarn).
