NEWFANE – A 37-year-old Lockport woman was arrested by State Police for driving drunk and on drugs after crashing into a snow-covered field off Lockport Olcott Road Wednesday.
Jill M. LaForme was treated at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Newfane for head and neck pain.
Witnesses told police LaForme had been swerving between lanes as she drove north on Lockport Olcott Road and ended up in the field after crossing the center line and driving off the highway.
Police said she gave them a false name after failing to come up with her car registration or driver’s license. Through a computer check troopers found her license had been suspended. Troopers also reported finding in her vehicle 36 narcotic pills out of their original container and mixed in a pill box with prescribed medication.
After being treated at the hospital, LaForme was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while ability impaired by drugs, failing to keep right, moving between lanes unsafely, aggravated unlicensed driving, false personation and possession of controlled substances outside their original container. She was issued appearance and traffic tickets and ordered to appear in Newfane Court next week.
