March 29, 1922 – Feb. 18, 2015
Jeanne E. Gordon of Williamsville and Sarasota, Fla., a retired in-store merchandising supervisor, died Feb. 18 while under hospice care. She was 92.
Born in Albany, the former Jeanne Monrian graduated early from high school and attended the University of Buffalo.
She worked for Welcome Wagon for a few years, but the majority of her working career was spent alongside her husband, Larry Gordon, developing an in-store merchandising business called Beam-Cast. At its peak, she supervised over 40 women, smartly attired in uniforms, who managed product displays and shelf placements in supermarket chains across upstate New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Mrs. Gordon was an avid golfer and tennis player. She was a lifelong member of Brookfield Country Club and a member of TPC Prestancia Golf Club in Sarasota for 26 years. She was an active member at North Presbyterian Church in Williamsville.
A community volunteer, she and her husband were active in Boys Town of Italy, serving as chairpersons.
Her husband of 59 years died in January 2006.
Mrs. Gordon was cared for by her two sons, David and Peter, and their families during her recent struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Survivors, besides her sons, include three stepchildren, Larry Gordon, Laurie Zeh and Lynne Doyle; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A prayer service will be held at 5 p.m. March 29 in the Perna, Dengler, Roberts Funeral Home, 1671 Maple Road, Amherst.
