Girls Class A semi: Williamsville South vs. North Shore

When: 1:30 p.m. Friday

Where: Hudson Valley Community College, Troy

State rankings: Will South No. 3, North Shore No. 2

How they got here: Williamsville South advanced to its first state final four by beating Section V champion Bishop Kearney in the Far West Regional last Saturday, 58-44.

North Shore advanced by edging Harborfields, 49-47.

Will South starters/key reserves: 5-foot-8 senior Emily Smith, 5-7 senior Grace Licata, 6-0 senior Erin Egan, 5-11 junior Brianna Neeley, 5-6 soph. Zaria McCullough, 5-7 junior Nina Ragland, 5-10 freshman Lauren Lassiter, 5-8 junior Kelsey Stasiak, 5-7 junior Cydney Adams.

North Shore key players: Alexandra Cantwell, Ashleigh Sheerin, Samantha Capobianco, Gabrielle Zaffiro, Kelly Johansen, Giuliana Telvi.

Skinny on North Shore: North Shore is located in Glen Head, a hamlet in the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County. Among North Shore’s notable alumni is the actor Michael McKean, who portrayed Lenny in “Laverne & Shirley” and Perry White in “Smallville.”

Scout: Alexandra Cantwell, who will play for Lafayette of the Patriot League, is North Shore’s top player as last year’s All-Long Island pick has scored more than 1,000 points in her career. She’s quick and an inside-outside threat. Freshman point guard Gabrielle Zaffiro is a pure shooter who can handle the rock, according to South coach Kristen Dolan.

What’s next: The winner advances to Saturday’s championship game at 7 p.m. against either III-Jamesville-DeWitt or I-Albertus Magnus.
