Daniel L. Kaye of Williamsville, a retired Buffalo attorney, died Tuesday at Brothers of Mercy in Clarence after a short illness. He was 80.
Born in Buffalo and a former resident of Grand Island, he graduated from Canisius High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from University of Buffalo and a doctorate of jurisprudence from Syracuse University Law School. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1958.
A longtime Buffalo attorney, he was a member of the Erie County Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association for over 50 years. His firm, Daniel L. Kaye, Esq., specialized in real estate law from 1957 to 2010.
Prior to his law career, he worked as an instructor at Erie Community College in Williamsville from 1975 to 1985 and at Bryant & Stratton from 1964 to 1989.
He was a former member of the Buffalo Launch Club and an outstanding tennis player. His hobbies include photography and architectural design. He was a voracious reader with an interest in World War I and War World II.
He traveled throughout the United States and abroad, including Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Thailand, Hong Kong, Italy and England.
Mr. Kaye and his wife raised and showed German shepherds for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, the former Marlene A. Anelli; and his daughter, Karin. Funeral services are private.
