“Open the Door. Take the Tour” is the theme of this year’s National Boys & Girls Clubs Week, from Sunday through next Saturday. The Boys & Girls Clubs of Buffalo are joining in the week-long celebration of the clubs – which are much more than “swim and gym,” leaders say.
Neighbors, families and people interested in supporting the clubs are encouraged to stop in during the week at any Buffalo location. On Monday from 4 to 5 p.m., the Westminster Community Charter School will hold an all-grades spelling bee, and on Wednesday the members will take part in a community clean-up. Tuesday is physical fitness day at the William C. Baird site and Thursday is Iron Chef Day, with a “showdown” in its Kids Cafe between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. The Southside Club members will be making bird feeders Wednesday after school.
On Friday, members will lead guided tours between 4 and 6 p.m. at each location: Baird, 2061 Bailey Ave.; Westminster, 24 Westminster; and Southside, 46 Magnolia Ave.
